Weaving together the colours of folk + classical, ilk’s distinctive sound uses unpredictable melodies intertwined with intricate guitar parts. Playing with sophisticated harmony, textures & storytelling,  ilk’s songwriting has its own unique shape.


Formed by vocalist Agnes Jeanne Maria and classical guitarist Jacob Harrison, all of their music is written together, drawing on both of their experiences & musical influences.

sunburn is a concentrated collection of songs which unfold tender, intense compositions about love & living. Agnes and Jacob chase sound & colour with velvet toned vocals & virtuosic guitar. With a quiet intimacy as well as expansive fullness, ilk’s debut EP is a breathtaking beginning.

Jacob Harrison

Jacob Harrison is a classical guitarist and composer from the Northeast of England. His music combines many influences including Renaissance lute music, Brazilian choro, heavy metal, flamenco and impressionism that manifest themselves into colourful and often virtuosic music for the contemporary classical guitar. Jacob earned his bachelor's degree in music performance from the Leeds Conservatoire in 2020 and his master's degree in composition in 2021. After achieving distinction in his Associate of Trinity College London diploma, Jacob won the Trinity Talent Award for creative flair and was featured in Voice magazine. While earning his master's degree, Jacob studied simultaneously under world-renowned guitar composer Marek Pasieczny, the maestro piano composer Matthew Bourne and the founder of the Augado guitar duo Peter Batchelar.

Agnes Jeanne Maria

Performing for ten years, Agnes has always loved the sound & storytelling of singing - how simply playing notes side by side & stringing words together can make us feel any emotion. After studying Jazz at Leeds Conservatoire, Agnes has found herself in lot’s of different projects & jobs - all of them with arts at the core, from curating arts & sound exhibitions at Leeds Libraries to running songwriting courses in Studio 12.

Projects that Agnes is currently a part of are Ilk, Agnes & Eve, Playing The Poem & Schwa. Other than on stage, Agnes spends most of her time in her role as Head of Radio at Chapel FM Arts Centre in East Leeds, working with young people, asylum seekers & lots of community groups to create radio, podcasts + music. In the remaining hours of the day, Agnes also offers singing & songwriting lessons.
